Kudos to Blizzard

Wow… Not World of Warcraft, but the actual word wow… My buddy Saturn and I just ran the heroic series “The Frozen Halls”. Patch 3.3′s new 5 man content. Wow wow wow. It’s such an amazing storytelling behind the instance. You start out with The Forge of Souls and progress through 2 additional wings until the end. For those of you who haven’t finished it yet, I won’t spoil it, but wow. Kudos to Blizzard for such an interactive, entertaining and amazing experience.

A note that I still hate the Pit of Saron’s first boss, Forgemaster Garfrost. I almost died, couldn’t heal the tank because of LOS issues and just was kinda running around with my head chopped off. But the group I ran with were great and carried us through with no deaths.

The 3rd instance of the 5 man content is just plain fun. And gathering badges to upgrade your loot just makes it that much more enjoyable. And to top it off, no deaths!

Heroic wha?

I have this phobia to be a perfectionist and don’t like to be scolded at or do a poor job. You can blame that on the need to please everyone and be the best.

Since I’m back in the saddle, I figured I’d take it easy and heal up some WotLK instances that I missed out on. Enter my brother from another mother Saturn. We’ve been friends since I’ve been 10 so that’s 20 years. As I’ve moved to the Rochester area, I don’t get to see him as much but WoW is a good way for us to connect as our respective wives are with child.

We start out what I thought was regular Nexus. We pick up another awesome DPS Druid on our server, TPayne and PUG a tank and another DPS. We fly though it and have no issues. As the beginning scene in Star Wars The Clone Wars (animated series on Cartoon Network, check it out) states: Experience builds Confidence. We were flying through things and nothing really stood out as dangerous. I thought we were doing a great job. At the end my buddy Saturn says “That was Heroic”. I called BS. Sure enough there were 2 Emblem of Triumphs.

I’m going to have my ups and downs in WoW much like in life. I just need to roll with the punches.

Saturn now thinks I’m ready for Heroic Forge of Souls. Here goes nothing

Good ol’ Alterac Valley

I find getting my bindings and bars in order,  running AV in all its chaos, leaving towers undefended, and rushing Vann with everyone up to be a good way of easing into things again. I still think AV is by far my favorite battleground. Just everything about it is smooth for me. I remember when AV was first released I would be in AV’s that would last hours long. It’d get to the point everyone would gather blood and summon the various “God” beings.

I dislike playing defense but often it is the key to victory. I like to be up there healing and watching the offense lay waste.  AV’s…… always a good time.

New Beginnings

This is a  new beginning for my Priest blog. I hope to keep things updated as I go.

As a returning player (December 2009) it’s been great coming back. I am a level 80 Priest on the server Azshara. Playing with a couple of RL friends always makes it enjoyable.

I’m not an elitist by any means. I do enjoy learning more about my class and have been reading many sites about it (link to follow shortly) but I find experience to be the best teacher. With the new LFG tool (http://www.mmo-champion.com/index.php?page=909) it certainly makes finding instances so much faster.

I’m playing a level 80 Priest whom I’ve taken over for a friend who recently lost his job. My very first 60 character was a Priest but I’ve been on hiatus since BC.

Playing a Priest has certainly changed from BC to WotLK and I believe for the better. New spells such as Prayer of Healing, Circle of Healing and Guardian Spirit.

I’m looking forward to running instances and updating them here.
